The Swiss horn player Bruno Schneider, who was born in Lausanne, started to play at the young age of 9 years at the conservatory of La Chaux de Fonds in the class of Robert Faller, who played a major role in his education in horn and canto. Early on the musical talent was discovered by the conductor of l’orchestre de la Suisse Romande Armin Jourdan, and hence played in the orchestra and in the chamber orchestra of Lausanne. In 1975 and 1976 Bruno Schneider performed in the musical youth world orchestra, followed by two years of further studies at the conservatory of Detmold in Germany, where he was taught by Michael Hoeltzel. Having finished his studies, he spend 15 years playing in top-orchestras such as the Tonhalle in Zurich, the symphonic orchestra of the Bayerische Rundfunk and the orchestra of la Suisse Romande. Simultaneously he developed his activities as a teacher, a soloist and a chamber musician. Since 1997 Bruno Schneider is a professor in the conservatories of Geneva and Freiburg, helping young talents in finding their own path. Moreover he regularly travels to the USA, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Finland, and other countries to teach master classes. For ten years the great horn-player has been playing in the Lucerne Festival orchestra, under the conducter Claudio Abado, from which several audio-and film recordings have been made
